DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Technician III position applies advanced skills and knowledge to ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and parts throughout the Oakwood School campus. The Maintenance Technician III uses their knowledge to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. They also must be able to effectively communicate policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by fellow employees or coworkers.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience required
  • 5 or more years of related work experience working as a Maintenance Technician, preferably in an independent school setting
  • Be available for daily overtime or weekend work when necessary
  • Holds appropriate license(s)/certification(s)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing systems including toilets, urinals, sinks and drains.
  • Disassembles machines to repair or replace broken parts.
  • Cleaning of eating areas, bathrooms, kitchens and classrooms. This includes the use of janitorial supplies and chemicals.
  • Setup of school events. This includes tables, chairs, stages, floor covers, etc.
  • Inventories all cleaning supplies weekly. Creates order slip for Director of Facilities on a weekly basis.
  • Performs preventative and predictive maintenance including lubrication and filter changes
  • Requests for new parts and equipment.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Salary Range: $30.00 an hour - $35.00 an hour
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs and ladders; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs; reach both above and below shoulder height.  Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to visually inspect work.  Must wear protective clothing required by the work environment or governmental regulations.  Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
